Abstract: Effects of different irrigation style on rice yield and quality were studied, with paddy-upland medium-maturing japonica hybrid rice "wanhanyou1". The experimental results indicate that: Under no water layer irrigation, plant height was short, ear length, number of panicles, total number of grains per panicle and number of filled grains per panicle increased, while 1000-grain weight decreased. The yield respectively increased 14.1% and 8.2% in two test years. Under no water layer irrigation, chalky rice rate and chalkiness decreased, gel consistency improved, brown rice rate and amylose content increased, grain length become length, grain width narrowed, and head milled rice rate slightly decreased. Rice quality was improved under no water layer irrigation.
