Abstract: It is well known that Ceratophyllum demersum and Hydrilla verticillata Royle have wide applied prospects in protection of water pollution，and make a significant contribution to protect water environment, so they can play a powerful environmental and ecological functions. In this paper, an attempt is made to predict the applied prospects of Ceratophyllum demersum and Hydrilla verticillata Royle at tributaries in Three Gorges Reservoir Region by analyzing the present situation, in other words, they may prevent eutrophication in water, heavy metal pollution, organic pollution, the overrunning of algae and maintenance of biological diversity, ecological integrity and stability.
