Abstract: To study the resistance of ipomoea batatas callus to the antibiotics and their differentiation under various combination of hormones, the growth condition of the ipomoea batatas callus of different origin on MS medium added with different antibiotic and different combinations of NAA, BAP and 2,4-D was observed. All ipomoea batatas strains grew well on MS medium with 100mg/L carbenicilin. However, only nanshu-99 and mianfen-7 showed good resistance on MS medium with carbenicilin more than 500mg/L. The differentiation rate could reach 100% when NAA（0.1mg/L）and BAP（≧1.0mg/L）were used together. The combination of BAP（0.1mg/L）and different concentrations of NAA could just yield extremely low differentiation rate.
