Abstract: The chemical compositions and sensory quality of aromatic tobacco in different producing areas were analyzed. The results showed that there were great difference in chemical compositions of aromatic tobacco in different producing areas. The contents of total nitrogen, chlorine, potassium, protein and total free amino acid were the highest in Hubei, the contents of total sugar, reducing sugar, starch and polyphenol were the highest in Yunnan and the content of nicotine was highest in Zhejiang. There were significant differences in smoking quality of aromatic tobacco in different producing areas. Generally, smoking quality of aromatic tobacco in Yunnan and Zhejiang were higher and Hubei’s lower. In terms of smoking total scores, the smoking total scores of A1 grade tobacco leaves was highest in yunnan, while, zhejiang got the highest scores in A2 grade tobacco leaves, and the smoking total scores of A3 tobacco leaves in yunnan was a little higher than in zhejiang and both of them were higher than in hubei obviously.
