Discussion on the Bilingual Education for Genetics in the Newly-constructed Universities

Abstract:

Genetics, one of the most active developing scientific fields in the world nowadays, is a key course in the associated majors of agronomic, forestry and biological subjects. Bilingual education for genetics in universities of our country is of importance. Newly-constructed universities, as playing an important role in our state higher education, are at the beginning and exploring stage with the questions of serious shortage of teachers, students’ lack of English knowledge basis and schools’ administrative lagging in the genetics bilingual teaching. It is primarily discussed and analyzed in this paper that: for guaranteeing the quality of genetic bilingual education, five factors should be given special attention, namely, teachers, students, textbooks and courses, as well as teaching methods and teaching means.
