Bioinformatic Analysis of the Nitrilase Family in Rice

Abstract: Nitrilases are important enzyme in plants. Eight proteins were identified by searching the Oryza sativa L. ssp. japonica protein database. The bioinformatics analysis showed that they had a typical carbon-nitrogen hydrolase domain. ESTs analysis showed that each gene expressed diversely in different tissues and under different stresses, which suggested specific function of particular gene. In addition, we analyzed the evolution of the rice nitrilase family. In a summary, these data will facilitate to further characterize molecular or biological functions of the proteins.
