Inhibitory effect of Bacillus subtilis on pathogenic bacteria from poultry house

Abstract:

Bacillus subtilis, which can produce a variety of antibacterial substances, has been used as probiotics in [Objective] The present work aims to study the inhibitory effect of Bacillus subtilis on pathogenic bacteria from poultry house. [Mothed] The microorganism collected from poultry house was isolated and cultured using conventional methods, and then, the strain and toxicity was identified using biochemistry and animal experiments. At the same time, the inhibitory effect of Bacillus subtilis isolated was evaluated with restrained slab experiment. [Result] The Bacillus subtilis isolated from the present work did not inhibit the growth of pathogenic E. coli, Salmonella, and Enterococcus, but it had inhibitory effect on Proteus spp bacteria and Staphylococcus aureus with different degree. [Conclusion] Bacillus subtilis might be useful in the inhibition of common pathogenic bacteria from poultry horse.
