Abstract:

The Biological Characteristics of Elasmus sp. a parasitoid of Tirathaba rufivena Walker were observated in laboratory. The results showed that the adults emerged mainly in the evening, with the peak emergence of female and male adults at 1:00-3:00 and 23:00 -1:00 respectively. The sex ratio in laboratory populations (♀∶♂) was 1∶1.2. The female adults could mate and oviposite in 24 hours after emergence. The adult can reproduce in both ways of amphigony and parthenogenesis, the unmated females could only produce male progeny. Under 26±0.5℃ and 75±5%RH condition, the developmental duration of egg, larva and pupa were 0.9, 4.2 and 7.2d respectively. Feeding on honey water solution, the adult longevity could be prolonged.
