Abstract：Dark-colored gland containing gossypol is an important agronomic trait in cotton. excavate and utilize of the gene that controls gland and gossypol synthesize are of great theoretical and practical significance, not only in clarifying the mechanism of gossypol biosynthesis in depth, but also in breeding cotton varieties of the glanded-plants with glandless cottonseeds by gentic engineering. In this paper, we summarized the progresses and present status of cotton gene that controls gland and gossypol synthesize of heredity and cloning in recent years. Some strategies to cotton gene mapping in the future was put forward.
