Abstract:

The climate, plant and soil resources in Maoer mountains in Guangxi were investigated, and the physical and chemical properties of soils of 6 soil profiles in different elevation collected from the mountain were studied. Based on the Chinese Soil Taxonomy, the diagnostic horizons and diagnostic characteristics of the soil profiles as well as related taxonomic classification category were also defined. The results showed that the eluviation, allitization and ferritization in the soil was strong. In the soils of B horizon of the soil profiles, the base-saturation percentage was low, at 12.5%~21.9%,while the exchangeable aluminum saturation percentage were high, at 78.1%~86.7%, and the content of free iron oxide was over 52.0%.The Sa values of B horizons in the soil profiles were 0.94~2.32. There were three groups including two orders in Maoer mountains.
