The Protection System of Regional Brands of Agricultural Products in Japan and the Enlightenment

Abstract: With the competition in the field of agriculture becoming more and more fierce, all the countries in the world attached more attention to the protection of regional brands of agricultural products, which is important to strengthen the synthetic competitiveness of agriculture. Nowadays, Japan, based on the developments of its national contidions and and changes of international situation of agriculture, positively set down the protecion system of regional brands of agriculture products to motivate and protect the development of agriculture in the country. In this paper, the protection system of regional brands of agricultural products in Japan has been analyesed and evaluated. These expericences give us enlightment and significance. Using the experiences of Japan for reference, China should improve the laws and legislations on regional brands, take advantages of the goverments’ functions, develop industry associations to protecte products, strengthen safety and quality standard system to monitor and vigorously carry out marketing and advertising.
