Abstract:

Through extensive and systemic field investigation and observation in multi-points for 2 years, combining with former survey results, the host species and behavior mode of Loxostege sticticalis L.’s ovipositing and feeding have been listed and confirmed. The preference differences on plant species among different regions and larvae instars have been expatiated. It is indicated that the feeding host species are not completely coincident with that of ovipositing. The ovipositing positions and their ratios are also not fixed and would change with environmental temperature and humidity. The presented results have further elucidated the Loxostege sticticalis L.’s preference on host and this is an adaptability for population survival and development. Therefore, the meadow moth deserves one of the most important pest in crop growing, so that adjusting of crop species and timing weeding in cultivation are the efficient control measures.
