    LI De-Hua ,, HE Li-Yuan , LIU Wu-Ding
    Chinese Agricultural Science Bulletin    2004, 20 (1): 161-161.   DOI: 10.11924/j.issn.1000-6850.0401161
    Abstract1580)      PDF(pc) (135297KB)(1046)       Save
The correlation between Al-tolerance and root activity were studied with inbred lines and part of their F1 generations in maize, by the means of nutritional cultivation. The results indicated that, under Al stress, root reducing ability of Al-tolerant inbred lines was enhanced while TTC reducing ability decreased in Al-sensitive ones, which shows TTC reducing ability of root is closely consistent with the ability of Al-tolerance. The active absorption area in Al-tolerant inbred lines is much larger that of Al-sensitive ones, what’s more, the active absorption area to the total absorption area ratio is even higher compared with the Al-sensitive ones. The oxidbillity of root in Al-tolerant inbred lines could be maintained or slightly increased by aluminum stress while that of sensitive ones decreased. The results suggest that Al-tolerant inbred lines can keep high respiration metabolism when they stressed by Aluminum. The bleeding sap could be decreased in both inbred lines especially Al-sensitive lines when treated with Al.

    Chinese Agricultural Science Bulletin    2004, 20 (1): 71-71.   DOI: 10.11924/j.issn.1000-6850.040171
    Abstract1584)      PDF(pc) (93891KB)(694)       Save
The research was carried out on the effects of 7 agronomic characteristics of maize hybrids on their grain yielding stability, based on regional test materials of summer corns in North China, by using the correlation analysis between regression coefficient and characteristics. The results showed that most agronomic characteristics have negative relevance with yielding stability of hybrids. The most important factors are rows per spike and 1000 grains weight, while spike position and its length、plant height and grains per spike have little relevance. In the practice of breeding, such measures as enhancing selection of those characteristics which have little effects on yielding stability but great effects on grain yielding, properly lowering the height of spike position and increasing grains per spike, are all helpful to improve yielding stability of maize hybrids.
