Abstract: Potosia brevitarsis Lewis is a kind of new pest currently found on the crops, fruit trees and forest woods in Changji area, Xinjiang Ugur Autonomous Region. Its occurrence and harm is growing increasingly severe every year. The researchers adopted a series of research methods including quasi-random sampling on a large scale, multi-case observation and simulated insect gardens and learned about its morphological characteristics and the kinds of its host crops. Based on that, a tentative prevention and control framework was proposed in the paper such as artificial elimination, collective trapping and killing, dunghill disposal, expelling adults and chemical prevention, etc.
