Abstract:

To explore the technical approach of fertilizer recommendations which based on the datum of soil testing and fertilizer project, we concluded the main fertilizer prescriptions should be designed for ecological zones, and small adjustment could be done for farmer’s fields. We designed spring maize fertilizer prescription as 17-13-15 and fertilization recommendation in Anhui Province using regional soil nutrient supply and crop nutrient demand by nutrient management technologies, and evaluated this fertilizer in 9 field experiment sites in 2011. Compared with the farmers practice, yield using designed fertilizer (17-13-15) increased 4.3% from 7906 kg/hm2 to 8244 kg/hm2, while increasing nitrogen partial factor productivity of 55% from 25.8 kg/kg to 40.1 kg/kg. The risk of maize lodging reduced significantly because of the treatment of using designed fertilizer (17-13-15) reducing the length between the first quarter 9.6% and lower the ear height 8.1%.
