Abstract: In order to clarify the reasons for the formation of sexual dimorphism and the biological significance in Lizards body colour, the Lizard species with sexual dimorphism in body colour in China were summarized and analyzed on the basis of the existing literatures. The results showed that in the 156 species of Lizards in China, there were 6 families 28 species had sexual dimorphism in body colour, accounting for 17.9%. The body colour sexual dimorphism had a certain relationship with the environmental change and own factors that generally had a courtship display to escape the attack, the role of concealment and camouflage. So, the research on sexual dimorphism of Lizards colour could provided theoretical basis for coloring, and could also provided references for the visual signal formation, the basis of behavior and physiology in sexual selection.
