Abstract: It is necessary to realize the current situation, harm, and management strategies of heavy metal pollution. On the basis of the situation of heavy metal pollution in the rice fields, the best methods which were match with rice fields can be chose, including controlling heavy metal pollution sources, screening rice varieties of low absorption of heavy metal, using soil amendment, planting hyper-accumulater and growing transgenic plants. These methods were beneficial to improve yield and quality of rice, thus beneficial to human health. Now there are few rice varieties of low absorption of heavy metal, so greater efforts are needed in the future. Also, only if the select of hyper-accumulater change from repair single heavy metal pollution to compound, it can adapt to the complication of pollution places. What is more, there is a great space to develop transgenic plants. In a word, much attention should be paid to heavy metal pollution and control sewage water irrigation.
