Abstract: Based on the statistical climate data analyzed by clustering method, twelve tobacco planting areas in Chongqing were divided into four regions. The first region covered Shizhu, Nanchuan, Pengshui and Wulong County. The second region was made up of Fengdu, Fuling, Wanzhou and Wushan County. The area distribution of third region included Fengjie and Wuxi County. And Youyang, Qianjiang County belonged to the fourth region. There were significant differences in both climate factors and chemical compositions of tobacco among those four regions. In all these four regions, temperature conditions could meet the need of tobacco during its growth period and the total sunshine hours had significant influence on tobacco chemical compositions in region Ⅰ and Ⅳ. The precipitations in region Ⅱ and Ⅲ affect tobacco chemical compositions significantly and made them distinguishable from other two regions.
