Abstract: In order to solve the problem of the shortage of lakeshore landscape plants in Wuhan ,we investigated species composition, life form, ornamental feature and habitat type of lakeshore plants along the 29 lakes in Wuhan. We recorded 473 plant species which belonged to 304 genera and 113 families. Among them, few species of plants ,especially native plants are applied in artificial shore, and invasion plants are spreading along the lakes, but plant species in natural lakeshore are abundant. Those plants were evaluated with a model which was established with Analytic Hierarchy Process. We screened out seven tree species, eight shrub species, fourteen herb species and six vine species which have high ornamental value and are suitable for Wuhan lakeshores .It is necessary to select more native plants in the construction of lakeshore zones ,because this can improve the ecological function and landscape effect of lakeshore zones.
