Abstract: Two cultivars‘Wanzhi 1’and‘Yuzhi 4’were used to study the effect of fertilizer application rates on dry matter accumulation and distribution in sesame. The experiment was conducted on randomized block design with two factors, fertilization and cultivar. The amount of dry accumulation on different organs of plant at the different growth stages was measured. The results showed that the dry matter accumulation showed a trend of slow-fast-slow. Dry matter accumulation in different organs of the plant under different fertilizer rates were basically the same trend. With the increase of fertilizer application rate, the dry matter accumulation increased, but the high fertilizer rate or the low fertilizer rate was detrimental to sesame yield. Selecting suitable varieties, rational application of fertilizers and promoting dry matter accumulation and distribution was the key to gain high yield of sesame.
