Abstract: In order to define the interaction between floral compositions and study the appropriate screening methods of floral attractants trapping moths, the authors mixed a list of floral attractant formulas using formula uniform design and conducted field trapping for noctuids and pyralids as the main target. The results showed that the selected floral attractants could mass trap a variety of important moth pests including Helicoverpa armigera, Argyrogramma agnate, A. albostriata, Spodoptera exigua, Hymenia recurvalis, Ostrinia furnacalis, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis and Maruca testulalis, etc. Among floral compositions, phenylacetaldehyde, benzyl acetate and salicylaldehyde were three key active compositions with wide-trapping moths, however, two aromatic compounds with the shortest side chain, benaldehyde and benzyl alcohol, exhibited generic negative effects on trapping moths. Therefore, developed wide-trapping attractant using floral scents preferred collectively by important moths can simplify trapping and control techniques of moths.
