Abstract: In order to accelerate the processes of energy utilization of bamboo resources in China, the comprehensive evaluation index system of energy bamboo was established in accordance with the principles of index system, which was composed of growth and energy characteristics, physical and chemical properties of all 20 index combined with the special properties of bamboo resources. Meanwhile, 9 bamboo species were conducted a comprehensive evaluation with the method of analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Comprehensive index indicated that: sympodial bamboo>monopodial and amphipodial bamboo, Bambusa wenchouensis, Dendrocalamus latiflorus, Phyllostachys heterocycla cv. pubescens scored highest with great energy utilization prospects. The results indicated that: the evaluation system and method employed in this study had an acceptable consistency with the real situation. It could provide a systematic procedure for subjective judgments for energy bamboos selection, which would benefit to the further development and utilization of bamboo resources and solve the shortage problem of raw materials of biomass energy industry.
