Abstract: This paper discussed the effects of ridge culture on barley yield and quality under the condition of equal amounts of irrigation. The results showed that: (1) the ridge culture growth period was longer, ear number per was lower and economic coefficient was higher than the traditional culture cultivation, there were differences between varieties plant height, spike grain number and yield. (2)Quality of the barley: compared with traditional culture cultivation, ridge culture’s thousand seed weight, protein content, screening rate were reduced. There were no significant differences between ridge culture and traditional culture cultivation in the grain per spike, but protein content was significant and screening rate was extremely significant differences. (3) Malt quality: malt protein content was lower than traditional culture cultivation. There were no significant differences between malt powder extract,α- amino nitrogen,β- glucanase, a- amylase, diastatic power and soluble nitrogen. Malt Kolbach index was significant differences between varieties, but the impact trend.
