Abstract: In order to study the role of brown rot fungi in lignocellulose degradation, the author summarized brown rot fungi pretreatment of lignocellulose, biodegradation, biomass conversion and fermentative capability for its application in production, and found that its great potential in environmental value and biotechnology. Brown rot fungi, however, in biodegradation and bioconversion researches was single and lack of systematic. Therefore, the degradation of lignocellulose and utilization should be strengthen, which provides the theoretical foundation for its application in the future.
