Abstract: In order to clarify the effects of botanical compound scopoletin on the growth and development and economic characters of silkworm, Bombyx mori L. The different concentration of scopoletin were tested to silkworm by food intake method. The results showed that they displayed symptoms like vomitive, distorted against B. mori, by treated of 4000, 2000 and 1000 mg/L. The cumulative mortalities were ranged from 24% to 80%, with toxicity from 125 to 4000 mg/L treated silkworm to 5 instar, and the development of life stage were delayed. There were significant effect of scopoletin on the economic characters of silkworm, and the whole cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, pupation rate and pupal weight were significantly lower than the control treatment, but the cocoon layer was not significant influence. Therefore, there were cumulative toxicity of scopoletin on B. mori, if long-term high concentrations of feeding, otherwise it will cause a significant impact on the growth and economic traits.
