Abstract: In order to investigate the effect of different nutritional conditions on the growth and the lipid properties of Scenedesmus dimorphus, 3 kinds of cultivation conditions (BG11, BG11+DW, DW) were used in this research. The results showed that the optimal status of biomass production rate, total carbohydrate and total lipids were achieved by 0.045 g/(L?d), 37.4 μg/mL and 305.0 μg/mL under two-phase cultivation (BG11+DW) of Scenedesmus dimorphus. Moreover, a similar fatty acid composition of Scenedesmus dimorphus was attained through 3 ways of cultivation, and there was a dominance of C16/C18 fatty acid groups (more than 80%) which was composed of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acid. Especially, under two-phase cultivation it would elevate to 90.73%. With these desirable lipid properties, Scenedesmus dimorphus would be highly suitable candidates for biodiesel production.
