Abstract: In this paper, effects of salicylic acid, chitosan and calcium nitrate mixture (SCCaM) on cold tolerance of cotton seedling were discussed. The results showed that after pretreatment, SCCaM could increase the total chlorophyll content of cotton seedling, significantly reduce the accumulation of relative conductivity and malondialdehyde (MDA) of cotton seedling, which alleviated membrane peroxidation damage caused by low temperature. And cotton seedling could adapt to low temperatures better by increasing the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT) and the content of osmotic adjustment substances such as soluble sugar, soluble protein and proline. The results indicated that SCCaM had good effect on cold tolerance of cotton seedling.
