Abstract: For studying the potentiality of several new rice parents and providing theoretical basis for Yinshuitype hybrid japonica rice breeding, an incomplete dialer cross was made by using 4 CMS lines and 4 restorer lines. The combining ability for yield and yield components characters was analyzed. The results showed that: general combining ability (GCA) variances of yield traits were greatly significant. The restorer lines had higher GCA variances of yield traits than the CMS lines except for seed setting rate. Specific combining ability (SCA) variances of the grain weight per plant, panicles per plant and seed setting rate were significant or greatly significant. 139A and Wanlun 422 had higher GCA effects. Most yield traits of these two parents were typeⅡ. 139A×Wanlun 422 and Liao10A×Wanlun 422 had higher SCA effects and grain weight per plant. The GCA effects of restorer lines and the SCA effects of combinations were greater than the GCA effects of CMS lines in yield traits. In this study, the restorer lines had greater genetic difference and impact on the yield traits than CMS lines. The parents of 139A and Wanlun 422 were recommendable.
