Study on Soil Physical and Chemical Properties of Three Typical

Riparian Forests of Wenyu River Upstream

Abstract: In order to study the differences of the soil physical and chemical properties among three kinds of typical riparian forests of Wenyu River upstream, some parameters, such as soil pH, bulk density, total porosity, capillary porosity and capillary water capacity, were measured and analyzed. The results showed that the differences of the soil physical and chemical properties were very significant among different types of riparian forest; the soil pH and bulk densities of three kinds of riparian forestry had an order as: larch riparian forest>birch riparian forest>spruce riparian forest; the soil total porosity, capillary porosity and capillary water capacity had an order as: spruce riparian forest>birch riparian forest>larch riparian forest; the soil pH of three kinds of riparian forest increased with the soil depth, and soil total porosity decreased with the distance getting close to the river, no other apparent regularity was detected on soil properties.
