Abstract: In order to study the differences in zinc uptake and use efficiency between different genotypes aerobic rice at early stage, Zn-rich grain genotype (‘Qinai-3’) and Zn-poor grain Zn genotype (‘Baxiludao’) were used for this study with three Zn supply level, i.e. low, moderate and high (0μmol/L, 0.5μmol/L, 100μmol/L) under solution culture condition. At maximum tillering stage, the plant Zn uptake, distribution and utilization efficiency were investigated. The root and shoot dry weight increased with a certain level of Zn supply, while extreme high level of Zn supply resulted in dry weight decrease, indicating toxicity effects on both genotypes. The Zn uptake kept increasing when more Zn was supplied, while the Zn use efficiency decreased as extreme high level of Zn supply. The Zn uptake and Zn use efficiency of‘Qinai-3’were higher than‘Baxiludao’under both low and moderate Zn supply conditions, and the difference between two genotypes in Zn use efficiency was significance (P≤0.05). The relative uptake of Zn of‘Qinai-3’was higher than‘Baxiludao’under moderate and high Zn conditions. Therefore, compared with‘Baxiludao’, the uptake of Zn and use efficiency of‘Qinai-3’were stronger under the low and moderate Zn supply conditions.
