Abstract: The Atractylodes japonica Koidz ex Kitam seeds were soaked in different concentrations of PEG with different soaking time and molecular weight using orthogonal designs to select the best treatment scheme of PEG-induced germination percentage in order to improve the germination percentage. The results showed that in the four treatment factors which were treatment temperature, treatment concentration, molecular weight of PEG and treatment time decreased in turn on the effect of seed soaking in PEG on germination percentage and the best group of the treatment scheme was A1B1C2D1 that is,the germination percentage of seeds has improved prominently which were treated with PEG in concentration of 10% at 15℃ for 12h,and the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD), the peroxidase(POD)and catalase(CAT) has increased.
