Abstract: In order to find the superior family in seedling stage and to study growth superiority of the fine family, 92 families within 9 provenances of P. caribaea introduced from abroad were investigated in the seedling stage. Germination, seedling height, ground diameter and height-to-diameter ratio were measured. The results showed that factors of family and provenance had significant effect on seedling height, ground diameter and height-diameter ratio, but had no significant effect on germination. The weather of introduced area and plantation site tended to be identical. According to the result of cluster analysis, the best families were family C65 and C96, the better families were family C2, C40, C41, C93 and C97.
