Abstract: In order to explore effective ways to inhibit absorption of soil heavy metals in flue-cured tobacco growing period in the field, field experiment of topdressing different concentrations of zinc sulfate was carried out in tobacco fields of the dry red soil. The results showed that topdressing of different concentrations of zinc sulfate had very small effect on tobacco leaves absorption of arsenic and lead, but exhibited obviously inhibition on tobacco leaves absorption of cadmium, topdressing zinc sulfate concentration more than 6 g/L could reduce cadmium content by 50% in upper tobacco leaves and by 40% in middle and lower tobacco leaves. If topdressing zinc sulfate concentration was more than 12 g/L, the zinc content of tobacco leaves might increase greatly and led to zinc poisoning as well as serious impact on growth of tobacco plant.
