Abstract: Rhinopithecus was a typical example of an evolutionary radiation with rapid diversification events. It was made up of five kinds that were Rhinopithecus roxellanae, Rhinopithecus brelichi, Rhinopithecus bieti,Rhinopithecus avunculus and Rhinopithecus strykeri. They occupied a large latitudinal and altitudinal range including forestry and wood. They were very importment as a nohuman primate genera. People did a lot of study on the macro and micro of Rhinopithecus. In the paper, we reviewed the progress on the ecology and molecular phylogeny of Rhinopithecus, based on this, some suggestions were offered. Finally, we discussed prospects of applying molecular biology technology in research and conservation of the species.
