Abstract: The study aims to get the information about seeds of Ligustrum lucidum Ait from different provenances and provide a theoretical basis for the selective improved variety. The author determined the seed characteristics of 14 provenances of Ligustrum lucidum Ait, and the results were statistically analyzed. The results showed that the seeds from different provenances were different greatly in phenotypic traits or quality indicators. The seeds of Chengdu had the highest percentage of germination, which reached 83.67%. Seeds of Nanchang had the lowest, only 20.33%. The thousand seed weight of Guilin reached the maximum of 34.85 g, while the smallest was seeds of Chengdu, only 21.57 g. What’ s more, there was a negative correlation between germination percent, germination potential and the longitude and annual precipitation of provenances. In addition, it showed a negative correlation of dry weight, width of seeds and annual average relative humidity, a negative correlation between seeds width and latitude as well, while a positive correlation between seed length and annual average sunshine duration. And on this basis, this paper divided provenances into 3 groups reliminarily with cluster analysis.
