Assessment of Aquaculture Fish Asset Value at Risk Based on VAR Method——As an Example of the Turbot Farming in the Bohai Rim Region

Abstract: The problem of loan difficulties has been existed in the rural small and medium-sized enterprises for a long time, the deep-seated reasons for this situation is caused by the lack of collateral. Fundamental reason for the lack of collateral is the high risk of agricultural products, and existing technical problems to assess the risk, Banks and other financial institutions tend to avoid this kind of uncertainty risk. This article is in this context, by introducing VAR method to evaluate aquaculture fish asset value at risk, from two aspects of farmed fish assets risk characteristics and the applicability of VAR method, to illustrate the feasibility of VAR method in measuring fish assets breeding value at risk. And it is applied to evaluate the breeding value at risk of turbot breeding enterprises in 2010, which is located in Bohai rim region, testing the maneuverability of the VAR method. By quantifying the risk, to make sure the debtor and creditor aware of the risk, which provide technical support to solve the loans difficulties problem of fishery of small and medium-sized enterprise.
