Abstract: In order to select the optimum fertilizer rate, the orthogonal design of three factors at four levels and the randomized blocks of three replications were implemented in this experiment. With the variance analysis of the experiment, the result showed that nitrogen fertilizer had a very significant effect on index of growth period, pods per plant, grain weight of plant, 100-grain weight and plot yields of red kidney bean (P<0.01). Phosphate fertilizer had a significant effect on grain weight of plant (P<0.05). Potash fertilizer had no effect. Through the intuitive analysis, the optimum fertilizer rate (375 kg/hm2 of urea, 450 kg/hm2 of calcium superphosphate without potassium sulfate) was selected finally, which was very suitable to enhance the yield of red kidney bean.
