Abstract: In order to explore the effects of different N (nitrogen) application amounts on the growth and yield of ‘Ganzhi 8’, a new variety of black sesame, the author researched the yield, plant character and NUE (nitrogen using efficiency) of ‘Ganzhi 8’ under 6 N application amounts (0, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180 kg/hm2 N). The results showed that N application amounts had significant influence on the yield of sesame. In all treatments, N120 had the highest yield, capsule number of single plant and grain number of single capsule, and the yield was 1172.22 kg/hm2. N0 was the worst of all treatments, and the yield was only 672.78 kg/hm2. HI (harvest index) was not consistent with the yield, compared with N0, HI (harvest index) of N60, N90, N120, N150 and N180 were increased by 15.99%, 14.91%, 38.82%, 25.68% and 17.07%, HI of N90 was the highest. Meanwhile, the NUE of N120 was better than that of the others, the NUE of N120 was 4.16 kg/kg. Through equation fitting, the reasonable range of N fertilizer application amount was 80-120 kg/hm2.
