International Competitiveness of China’ s Shellfish Products

Abstract: To study the international competitiveness of China’ s shellfish, four indexes at two levels which were production factors and import and export were selected to analyze the competitiveness from 2001 to 2011. The four indexes included resource endowment index, international market share, revealed comparative advantage index and trade competitive index. The results showed that China’s shellfish products had outstanding resource endowment advantage in the aspect of production factors. International market share and trade competitive index showed strong advantages, but revealed comparative advantage index had weak competitive advantage. At last, the author put forward three countermeasures of reasonably adjusting export structure of shellfish products, strengthening the implementation of brand strategy and setting up shellfish production safety and health management system according to the research results.
