Abstract: In order to offer reference for the resource utilization of sludge and the form change of heavy metal in composting, sludge from municipal sewage plant was used as study material, thermophilic composting tests were conducted on compost A, B and C with conditioner of different types and proportions, the germination index and basic physical and chemical properties of composting product were analyzed, the change of heavy metal forms in compost and soil after the cultivation of cabbage were analyzed by the method of sequential extraction. The results showed that after compost, different types and ratios of conditioner had certain impacts on the degree of maturity, and the X-(KNO3+H2O) form of Cu and Zn declined, the decline proportion order of X-(KNO3+H2O) form of Cu was compost C (53.71%) > compost A (24.64%)> compost B (2.55%) and the order of Zn was compost A (80.58%) > compost B (71.09%)> compost C (66.34%). The content of X-(KNO3+ H2O) form Cu and Zn both increased in the soil after the application of compost. The test results had practical values in the use of compost and the form change of heavy metal in soil.
