Abstract: To explore the adult oviposition of Monolepta hieroglyphica in several major crop hosts, adults of Monolepta hieroglyphica were reared with seven kinds of host plant tissues including soybean leaves, maize filament, maize leaves and so on under 25℃ constant temperature in the laboratory. The results showed that longevity, spawning rate and oviposition amount of adults which feed on different host tissues were significantly different. Adult longevity and spawning rate on host tissues from high to low was maize filament, cotton leaves, soybean leaves, potato leaves, maize leaves, sunflower leaves and rice leaves. The oviposition amount from high to low was cotton leaves, maize filanent, soybean leaves, sunflower leaves, potato leaves, maize leaves and rice leaves. And the processes of laying eggs were similar and steady in different host tissues except potato leaves in which the oviposition focused on early period. The oviposition amount on the maize filaments was significantly higher than that on maize leaves. These indicated maize, soybean, cotton and sunflower were the preferred host plants of M.hieroglyphica at the adult stage in farmland ecosystem..
