Progress of Exploration and Utilization of Excellent Traits and Related Genes in Grain Amaranth

Abstract: In order to broaden the genetic resource of grain amaranth, this article summarized the role of grain amaranth in crop molecular breeding, including the quality, resistance, high yield, water saving characteristics, and the clone and use of relative genes; rich potassium characteristics of grain amaranth and rich potassium genotype screening; Cd-rich characteristics of grain amaranth and its potential application in soil remediation. The author believed that with facilitation, mechanization, and intensification of modern farming, crop species and crop variety diversity were declining, the unique genetic resource was easily lost, the genetic basis was increasingly poor. The development, protection and utilization of grain amaranth, a new type of genetic resource, would have important significance for variety design and molecular breeding of crops.
