Abstract: VDAC (voltage-dependent anion channel), also known as mitochondrial porin, plays an important role in the regulation of metabolic and energetic functions of mitochondria, as well in mitochondria-mediated apoptosis. However, subcellular localization and biological function of VDAC family in rice are largely unknown. In this study, OsVDAC2 gene was amplified from Nipponbare leaves cDNA based on the published ORF sequence on NCBI. Subcellular localization of OsVDAC2 protein was conducted by construction of transient expression vector pM999-OsVDAC2-GFP and transformation of rice protoplasts. The confocal microscopy results showed that OsVDAC2 protein was located mainly in the cytoplasm, and built a good foundation for further research on the function of OsVDAC2.
