Abstract: Soil infiltration is an important part of soil water movement. In order to study the soil infiltration capacity of woodland in purple soil area, 2 infiltration methods (double-ring method and cutting ring method) were used to precisely evaluate the woodland infiltration capacity in purple soil area, and the results between 2 methods were analyzed and compared to explore the differences between them. The results showed that: there were some differences between infiltration capacity parameters (initial infiltration rate, stable infiltration rate, average infiltration rate) between these 2 infiltration methods, soil physicochemical properties and determination conditions had great influence on them. The differences of initial infiltration rate and average infiltration rate measured by cutting ring method were larger than that measured by double-ring method, but the steady infiltration rate was the opposite in the experiment. The average values of infiltration capacity parameters measured by double-ring method were larger than that measured by cutting ring method, the initial infiltration rate, stable infiltration rate, average infiltration rate of double-ring method were 2.36, 2.17 and 2 times bigger than that of the cutting ring method. The 4 commonly used soil infiltration models were adopted to fit the results of soil infiltration of these 2 methods, and the fitting effects of 4 models showed that: Horton model> general empirical model> Kostiakov model> Philip model, and the cutting ring method was better than double-ring method. Quadratic equation with one unknown was better than linear equation with one unknown in the fitting of soil cumulative infiltration amount, and the determination coefficients R2 of quadratic equation with one unknown were above 0.99. The results could provide reference information for the research of woodland soil infiltration in purple soil area.
