Design and Realization of Aquaculture Suitability Evaluation System in Tianjin

Abstract: In order to maximize the utilization of regional resources, realize the coordinated and sustainable development of economy and aquaculture industry, the aquaculture suitability evaluation model of Tianjin was established with the Delphi and AHP method, and then aquaculture suitability evaluation system was developed based on IDRISI software. The basic thematic maps and the modeling parameter files of the whole seawater and freshwater of Tianjin, and of Wuqing and Hangu which were the typical aquacultural areas were integrated in the system. There were four core function modules in the system: linear combination map builder module, map reclassification module, map drill-down module and map display module, which allowed the users to customize their own multiple criteria evaluation model based on the raster maps besides the model established by the research. The aquaculture suitability in Tianjin was divided into four grades by systematic calculating: unsuitable, moderately suitable, suitable and very suitable, providing references for plan and management of aquaculture.
