Abstract: In order to objectively reflect the real urbanization level in Lanzhou, 20 indicators from population, economy, society, environment, science, education, culture and health were selected according to the connotation and substantive characteristics of urbanization, and a comprehensive evaluation index system about the level of urbanization was constructed. Factor analysis was conducted in quantitative evaluation of Lanzhou urbanization level from 2002 to 2012 using SPSS 17.0. The results showed that the level of urbanization in Lanzhou kept rising from 2002 to 2012. Economic conditions and education level were improved to a certain degree while the development of society and population construction was more fluctuated. The level of urbanization needed to be further improved.
