Abstract: Our objective was to research the broccoli seed germination response to different temperatures. An experiment of broccoli‘Tailv 1’seed germination was conducted under a constant temperature range of 4-38℃. This paper calculated the base temperature, the optimum temperature and the thermal time for seed germination using Logistic function and the thermal time model. The germination rate of‘Tailv 1’under the temperature range from 16℃ to 32℃ was above 93%, which was high. The mean germination time was the longest and the germination potential was 0 under 4℃ and 10℃. The seed germination rate was lower under 38℃ . Broccoli seed germination was significantly inhibited under low and high temperature. The suitable temperature range was 20℃ to 32℃, and the optimum temperature was 32℃. Broccoli seeds of‘Tailv 1’had a basal temperature of 3.98℃ for germination. Seeds of‘Tailv 1’required 22.70℃ · d to reach the seed accumulated germination rate of 50% . Broccoli seed germination time could be predicted by formula t=22.70/(T-3.98), T represented the germination temperature. The quantitative analysis of the temperature requirement of broccoli seed germination using modeling approach is feasible.
