Research Advances in Avocado (Persea americana Mill) Cultivation

Abstract: Avocado is a new variety of fruit full of high nutritive value and with noticeable health functions. With the improvement of life quality, people pay more and more attention to natural, healthy and organic fruit, and the market demand of avocado is increasingly growing. To explore the techniques for good-quality, high-yield and ecological avocado cultivation is the primary goal of China’s avocado industry development. Therefore, this paper introduces the biological characteristics of avocado and focuses on the cultivation technique in breeding, plantation selection, variety allocation and fertilization and pest control. Based on the production reality of avocado, the authors put forward some suggestions on the development of avocado industry.
