Nitrogen and Potassium Content of Different Flue-cured Tobacco Varieties and Cluster Analysis

Abstract: Selecting and breeding of potassium efficient genotypes of flue-cured tobacco is an important way to solve the problem of potassium content of flue- cured tobacco. In order to obtain excellent germplasm resources, the characteristics of nitrogen and potassium content of 20 varieties were compared and a cluster analysis was conducted. The results showed that there were significant differences in nitrogen and potassium levels among the varieties and among different parts of the same variety, and the potassium content of tobacco leaves decreased with the increase of leaf position, while the nitrogen content increased with the increase of leaf position.‘Yanyan 2’had the highest K content, the nitrogen content of‘Tengchong Daliuye’and ‘Dahuangye’were the most suitable. By cluster analysis, the tested varieties were divided into 3 types (middle nitrogen and high potassium type, middle nitrogen and middle potassium type, low nitrogen and middle potassium type).
