Egg Quality and Slaughter Performance of Xiushui Yellow Black Bone Chicken

Abstract: To study basic production performance of Xiushui yellow black bone chicken, egg quality and carcass traits of chicken at 43 weeks were measured. The results showed that the average carcass dressing percentage and eviscerated yield percentage was 85.27% and 61.02%, respectively, indicating that the chicken had good carcass traits. Keel bone length had significant correlation with carcass weight (P<0.05). Breast width had significantly and extremely positive correlation with dressed carcass weight, eviscerated weight, leg weight and leg muscle weight (P<0.01). Haugh unit was (62.13±8.18), which was lower compared with that of other local varieties. Yolk weight was (15.03±1.27) g, which had no significant difference with that of other local varieties.
